CAPE TOWN
WHAT TO DO
Hike Lion's Head: Truly an amazing hike where you can see the top of the "world"
Visit the Kirstenbosch Gardens: Beautiful botanical garden. Perfect for a picnic!
Muizenberg Beach: This is where you see all of the multi-colored mini homes (bath houses) in pictures from people who traveled to Cape Town. Great photo spot, surf spot or place to relax!
Hout Bay Market: Grab your cash, your friends, camera and make sure you have an empty stomach every Friday night. Go listen to some great live music, taste 1 or 10 delicious food stands, totes grab a raspberry mojito and let your shopping juices take over!! The markets in Cape Town totally define what it's like to live here as a semester abroad student --- meet new people, hang out outside of campus and take in the sites of Hout Bay!
Old Biscuit Mill: CALLING ALL FOODIES! This is one of the top food markets in the WORLD! Every Saturday morning, dozens of shops set up booths in the old mill selling delicious treats that are totally beyond insta-worthy. In fact, need help with a caption? Check out our Insta Captions page and look under food, maybe we can help since you'll be speechless from the deliciousness!
Waterfront Area: Perfect for the three most important things... people watching, delicious food with a view, and shopping!
Check out Table Mountain, one of the new 7 wonders of the world! You can hike or take a cable car. Be sure to bring your selfie stick to this so that you can get cool pictures from the top!
WHERE TO EAT/DRINK
Lyras: Restaurant located in Rondebosch. They have something called a jam jar (the broke college students dream drink!!), Monday night jazz nights and melt in your mouth lasagna! Needless to say, this is a staple eatery for a student abroad (and the locals!).
Jerry's Burger Bar: A restaurant where you can get a deluxe burger and a great drink in an awesome atmosphere. They have a hip sailor themed bar that's full of both locals and students, as this is the place to be! You should make a reservation if you want to eat here.
Mango Ginger (Coffee Shop): Get the chai tea latte or sit down for brunch! Lots of healthy choices in a very quaint restaurant.

"When looking at where to go, I really thought about what would push me. What would inspire me. What would give me the most impactful stories to share and to keep close to my heart."
