VENICE
WHAT TO DO
Murano & Burano: Not far from Venice, you can take the water taxi to Murano and Burano. Murano is where they blow glass, hence the famous Murano glass pattern. Burano is known for lace but has all different color buildings. Both are unique, beautiful and fun! A must see in Venice!
Don't have time for Burano? Visit the only handmade lace factory left in the WORLD! The lace school, at the San Marco stop on the water taxi, is an alternative if you don't have time to visit Burano! Walk through Piazza San Marco to the last corridor in the back corner and then you will cross a small bridge to get inside the school. While you're there, you can purchase lace items and watch a demonstration on how they create the items by hand! (Il Merletto, Piazza San Marco 95-96, Venezia)
Gondola: Ride a gondola at least once. They're expensive, especially compared to the main source of transportation, the water taxi, but it's a really fun once in a lifetime experience! Ride the Gondola with a loved one or a best friend for a great photo-opp.
...and while you're here, be sure to try a Bellini and Grappa (very strong vodka).
