ROME
WHAT TO DO
Colosseum & Roman Forum: See both the Colosseum and the ruins around it. By the way, there is free admission on the first Sunday of the month.
Trevi Fountain: Straight out of the Lizzie Mcguire movie! Throw a coin in backwards to make a wish for good luck and most importantly, to ensure that you return to Rome! It's a beautiful fountain so it's recommended that you go once during the day and once at night! Get your cameras ready for this tourist attraction.
Visit the Vatican: There is a public mass every Sunday for one hour. There are also catacombs under the Vatican that you shouldn't miss! Be respectful, and even if it's hot out, cover up.
The Roman Catacombs: Underground burials and tombs with beautiful frescos (paintings). This is like nothing you've ever seen before and something that you really should see. Don't forget to see the other ancient ruins!
Jewish Ghetto: Check out the synagogue and museum. There is a fountain in the Ghetto that you put your hand into and if you tell a lie it's supposed to chop off your hand (La Bocca Verita). The Ghetto is famous for their fried artichokes (Try the one from Nonna Betta!).
Spanish Steps: Walk up to the top and check out the views during the day and at night. There are a lot of designer shops on the streets leading up to it. If you're looking for a place to stay, staying near the Spanish Steps is a great location, especially if your parents/family is visiting you abroad! Very central and safe neighborhood.
Pantheon: Free attraction and a must see in Rome. Ask questions at the site!
Walk up and down Via Del Corso, known as the best street to shop on in Rome!
More Churches to Check Out: Santa Maria Maggiore, St. John Lateran, Santa Maria in Trastevere, etc. Best advice, do your research and make sure to get a good education about each place! Some are truly hidden gems.
