Galway Ireland. It is such a beautiful place and one that not many seem to know about. Galway is in County Clare and is in southern Ireland. It is close to the Cliffs of Moher and the University of Galway.
Very important history associated with Galway: The first ever Claddagh ring store is in downtown Galway. The ring itself is named after the Claddagh village which is right across the bridge in Galway.
Places to hang, relax and see: The University of Galway is in the city center. The hostel I would recommend would be Barnacles which is also right on the main street. It is right near all of the shops and a lot of the pubs. There is so much to do in Galway! There are stores in the local mall such as a Penney’s which is similar to Macy’s or Forever 21 back in the US.
Time to Eat: Eat at “King’s Head” which is a pub or “The Malt House”. The places in this area are very reasonable and very affordable which is nice when you want to get a feel for the Irish culture without breaking the bank.
Check out the Promenade: This is just a long walk along Galway Bay. It is about a mile and a half and when you reach the end if you need some good luck kick the wall and walk back. It is a gorgeous view, especially on a clear sunny day!
Even if you just walk around the shops and the roads there are stories behind every shop and every corner in Galway.
I recommend this city to anyone wanting a feel for the Southern Irish culture!
